Based out of Vancouver, BC, Jim Decker is a professional photographer and ski instructor. In his role as a ski instructor he helps people who are new to the art of skiing as well as those who are quite experienced improve their skills and confidence on the slopes. His services are available at many of British Columbia’s most famous ski areas.
He is also the owner of Jim Decker Photography located in Vancouver, BC. As a photographer, he not only takes family portraits, head shots, individual portraits, wedding photographs, and marketing shots, but he also photographs events in British Columbia and throughout Canada, including:

- Sports (winter sports, like skiing and snowboarding are particular passions)
Mr. Decker enjoys traveling for business or for pleasure and has had the privilege to record several elite sporting events, such as the Winter Olympics, the Nordic Combined World Cup, Winter X Games, the Ski Jumping World Cup, the Super Bowl, the Alpine Ski World Cup, and the World Series. His travels have taken him all over the world including the United States, Canada, Switzerland, and Scandinavia.
When he isn’t teaching others to ski or taking photographs, Decker enjoys spending a little time on the slopes himself participating in amateur ski competitions.
The Photographer
As an avid photographer and skier, Mr. Decker enjoys photographing snow-related sports in action. It helps him to combine two of his passions into one creative outlet. Throughout the year he turns his photography talents to the people in Vancouver and surrounding communities to take a wide range of photographs to commemorate special events, personal milestones, or simple personal photographs to share with friends and family.
His experience as an amateur ski competitor, his passion for sports, and his talent with the camera have allowed him to photograph a few major sporting events that will be lifetime memories for him and stand as a testament to his abilities as a photographer for all to see.
Nature shots are also favorites to photograph for Decker – especially nature shots that involve a wintry landscape.
In addition to the types of photography mentioned above, he also films pictorials and other photographs businesses can use for marketing. These can be used in web mediums, brochures, banners, magazine and newsprint advertisements, and more to aid businesses in their efforts to create a marketing message.
The Ski Instructor
As someone who loves skiing, Mr. Decker is passionate about sharing that joy with others of all levels. He is willing to help stark beginners who have never even worn a pair of skis as well as those who may have been born with skis on their feet but are just looking to improve their game and raise the bar by which they can compete. For beginners he doesn’t simply go over the mechanics of skiing but also offers instruction on the proper use of equipment and various ski maneuvers. This helps people of all levels learn and enjoy something about their lessons.
The Citizen of Vancouver
Above all else, Jim Decker is a good citizen of Vancouver. He frequently volunteers at homeless shelters in the area and visits the attractions that bring visitors to the city on a regular basis. During his free time, what little there is, he participated in other sports like amateur golf, snowmobiling, and wakeboarding.
